Title: Games For Windows Live issue
Post by: Shun on June 29, 2011, 05:55:07 pm
Hi Guys,

Wow, its a long time since I posted on here. I need to update my project as its been so long!
Firstly though I have an issue with a couple of the PC games that I have installed on my system.
I think I recently (and stupidly) upgraded my Games For Windows Live (GFWL) software and it is causing an issue with Street Fighter IV amongst others.

When I used to run SFIV it signed in my offline account while it was loading through the CAPCOM and NVIDEA screens which was fine (i think my saved game is stored against my offline account).

Since the update however, every time I run it, it asks my to sign in with my user name and password even though it is set as an offline account!
I don't have a windows live account and I don't want one either so how do I stop this window popping up everytime I want to start the game.
Its annoying because I have to use my wireless mouse to close the stupid windows live login popup.

I tried disabling the auto sign in on the offline account but then without an account signed then there are no saved settings characters etc :(

Has anybody else come across this as it is annoying the  :censored: out me!

Ok I've figured out what was wrong.

The latest version (3.5 i think) of GFWL is useless for offline accounts.
It keeps popping up with a live login even though it signs your offline account in  :dizzy:

So I managed to find out the older version of GFWL that I used to have installed. The version number is 2.0675.
I removed all three entries of the 3.5 version in Add/Remove programs (using xp here), grabbed a copy of 2.0675 and installed it.

And Volia!!! Street Fighter IV signs me in automatically without asking for a stupid Windows Live ID
Even better news, it works with the newer PC games as well like Virtua Tennis 4 as well.

Hopefully someone might find this useful when Super Street Fighter IV Arcade Edition is released and it comes with the crippled version of GFWL  ;D
