I am just getting started and am looking for portable design ideas. I want to make a control panel that houses the CPU as well, then I would just need to run power and audio/video to any tv/monitor.
I found:
http://forum.arcadecontrols.com/index.php?topic=43529.0 (http://forum.arcadecontrols.com/index.php?topic=43529.0) and http://overt.org/2009/02/22/the-great-wave-mame-box/ (http://overt.org/2009/02/22/the-great-wave-mame-box/)
as examples, but are there other guides/ideas/postings for a similar project out there.
There are a ton of great ideas for full cabinets and cocktail tables, which are great for CP layouts, but I have only found these 2 projects that relate to what I am looking to do. I guess I am looking more for the internal aspects of what needs to be done to accomplish this.
Any help would be great.

Get a mini ITX board, zotac makes good ones.
Others have put them in old gaming consoles, BurgerKingDiamond put on in an old NES, and Vigo put one in a SNES. You could do that, and then put a xbox 360 transmitter in it like this:

and then get 2 wireless sticks like this:

and it would be pretty cool as well.

An arcade in a box used to be a commercial product,
Arcade In A Box Dimensions
The control panel itself is 30" x 17" (16" on the ends)
The box is 30" x 15 3/4", 8" high in the back, 7" high in the front.
Smaller ones for jamma boards were also made.

Here are some more pics I found of an all in one box.
