So MK9 recently came out and this revival of the MK2-3 era with modern graphics /combo system was irresistible.
I bought it and have been playing for the past couple months and its sparked an old interest in getting a arcade machine.
I was checking local Criagslist for "arcade" related items and within 2 weeks i stumbled on to a free cab that someone was getting rid of.
My first score on craigs! lol
I've got a xbox360 and recently bought a 24" asus lcd.
there is a company that makes a adapter for xbox usb to arcade controls but they are out of stock at the moment. So ill have to wait for that part.
Eventually i will add a PC & HS/Emulators. Is there any advice on how i should wire up the arcade controls so it will be easy to add the PC support later ?
Heres some pictures of the cab, it needs some sanding, paint,new control box, and some additional wood framing.
So far i've found a good position for the monitor and made a mount.
I started working on the control box too, and will update as i go.

You can also used hacked controllers to connect your controls. :cheers:

I've thought about this route, there is very little price difference to go with the pcb vs buying 2 controls and spending time to solder the crap out of em.
Pcb will be a bit cleaner and ill be able to hook up my ps3 if needed as well ;)
Here is what i got done on the control board so far.
Need some art and plexi 34x14
Also wondering what to do about cleaning up all the edges on the whole machine, looks like previous owner used bondo or spackle

You can get 2 SFIV madcatz pads for about 50 bucks, it takes about an hour to hack them if you have never done it before. I don't see why you would want both a PS3 and a Xbox and a PC in your cab; I can't think of anything that would play well with arcade controls that is available on the PS3 that isn't available on the Xbox, not to mention that the pcb isn't MS certified, and could get zapped by an update, and they have been out of stock for a while...
Anyhow good luck with the controls. Make sure you document what you do....

I have more games for ps3 then xbox, only duplicate im gonna buy is mk9.

I have heard lots of good things about the akishop pcbs, but from what i gather there is a redesign coming and they are out of stock, and have been so for a while. I decided to go pads because: 1) Didn't want to wait for them to be back in stock; 2) so no use in the ps3 connectivity and 3) thought they were too expensive.
The pcb is designed to be put in custom fight sticks, so they can be universally compatible, so they only support 1p each. So for a 2p cp you would need two of them.
I got my pads from vpgames.com, they were like 23 bucks each I think. You can find good info on how to hack them on shoryuken.com, or you can pm me or haruman for advice. Its a pretty straight forward solder job, its a common ground pcb, so all you need is to solder the positive leads and a ground or two. I even soldered mine up so that the guide button lights up when the controller is on. All the inputs are digital, so no digital/analog conversion is necessary. The only tricky thing is soldering the guide button, since the spot is tiny. If you look on my project thread, you will see what they look like.
You probably have more PS3 games, but most of them you probably won't want to play on your cab. Most games these days use analog controls, and won't work well with the digital joys you have in your cab. In terms of Cab-friendly games, the xbox is better because there are a lot of good xbox live arcade games that play well, plus the shmups.

I actually have 2 in stock already from VP games. I tend to buy at least 4 at a time, that way I get the free shipping. :cheers:

Does it matter if it has 4 buttons or do i need the 6 button one ?
Im not quite decided on what to do for a button layout yet. I would like to go with the MK but not sure how big of a deal it will be with other games

UPDATE 6/15/2011: We are not taking any more preorders for the PS360+. Akishop has announced that release of the PS360+ will now occur during Q3 (July-September). We will resume offering this product when restocks are available. Akishop informs us that they are redesigning and adding features to the PS360 Tri-Mod PCBs, renaming them the PS360+. Anticipated shipment date is now dependent on the manufacturer. All preorders and replacements will be honored with the PS360+ once the products are available at our store.
That is from focusattack.com The list for the pcbs was 54.99, they reduced them to 44.99, who knows how much the new ones will be, or when they will be out.

at 23 bucks a pad, its a REALLY good deal for that pad, when they first came out they were like 40 bucks each, and are by far the easiest to hack pads out there.
