Title: Dell Precision 390 - anyone cracked one open? - SOLVED -
Post by: shrunkenmaster on June 25, 2011, 12:58:10 pm
I'd like to extend the power switch on a Dell Precision 390, but I can't seem to find a way to get the front panel off. Anyone prised one of these open before?

Would you need to get the panel off?  The wires to the power switch are usually the red and black ones on the little 9 pin connector. Just snip those and run in some extra wire and a new button on the end.

That's what I've done before, Leeds. The power switch is on a small board (with usb connectors, lights) connected by a ribbon cable. Turned out quite easy once the front was off, just soldered two wires onto the switch.
