Title: New (Half) Showcase
Post by: Zzap on September 03, 2003, 05:11:24 am
I just thought I'd finally announce my cab here after it's been built for over a year, and still in progress! I'm still yet to get a new TV (I'm aiming for a 68cm), and to build a stand for it etc, but it's on its way.

Is that thing stable on that skinny little base?

I had thought about making a panel like that, but I don't have a television, so getting a decent sized one to use would have added a lot to the cost of the project.

Speaking of televisions, why did you use that nice TV in the entertainment center, instead of what you're using now?  It looks much nicer.

Yeah, a new TV is planned in the next 6 months. Before I built the stand I actually used to move the control panel down onto our coffee table and use the better TV, but have since left it how it is. I think the current one I've got is a 48cm TV, so I'm hoping that a 68cm will do the trick.

The Control panel is very stable how it is, I have a bit of rubber underlay (used for rugs) under it to keep it from slipping, but besides that, it seems to stay in place quite well. I was going to bolt it if necessary, but not yet  :)

I have recently added a trackball, and hope to update the website soon.

I like what you have done there.  I was actually thinking of doing something like that myself.  I've got a 55" projection TV that I'm not crazy about the picture quality, so when I upgrade to HDTV I was going to build a stand like yours and use that TV for a huge showcase machine.

That, of course, is future plans, my 21" monitor in my cab will work for now but I like what you created.
