Well to Apollo and others I hope you like. I know, not my best work. It took me like 20 min. Thanx.
-See Ya!!!
P.S.: Thanks to 3dmacman for the vectored image of SF vs KOF that I got from the mametrixreloaded site.
-
Its pretty nice, but you could try and make the vector image in the middle bigger so the text doesnt cover the two bottom girls. The background is abit to psychadelic for my taste and that Cammy simply looks "politicaly incorrect" :o :-X

LOL how exactly to you make a cyborg working for a Communist dictator NOT look politically incorrect?
Anyway to the marquee. If you want me to be brutally honest it's not a good marquee at all. First off, the text/logo is supposed to be the primary element on a marquee and thus it should take up at least 50% of the image or be extremely bold/flashy. I think yours is at a puny 30% or so. Also the girls in the back detract from the text, which really needs to have more details anyway.
The colors for the characters are somewhat dark while the background is light and washed out. It's supposed to be the opposite. As-is when your marquee lights up you'll get a near white background with darkened characters. I know we gave you a hard time on the spelling of gaming, but that "m" looks out of place. The rest of the text looks very nice and the m kinda junks it up.
Finally, if you must have characters behind the text then at least have them interact with it a little. An arm hanging down in front might make all the difference.
Sorry to be so critical, but you asked. :)

I didnt know Cammy was a nazi... learn something new everyday..

I was looking at this earlier, and was deciding whether to comment or not. It just looks thrown together. I thought your last one was decent for what it was, but lately all I've been seeing is a ton of different-styled fighter chars on a pschyadelic background and a fancy font on the front. No real typography or integration of the text, and a whole lot of glow filters.
I always approach a marquee with the knowledge of how it's going to look with a light behind it. Even black might turn grey in front of a light, so your colors there will definitely be washed out.
-
I actually quite like it. However I'd make a few minor changes.
First of all I'd change the text colours to contrast more with the background. I'd also either get rid of the central four girls or make them bigger (preferably the latter).
With regards to Cammy's Nazi salute, I think there's a bit of confusion here, you can't be a communist and a fascist at the same time! (totally different political ideologies!).
Perhaps you could put a fascist character on one side of the text and a communist on the other. Then at least you'd have a politically balanced marquee!
Incidentally is the image in vector format? If it is then please can you upload it to the vector library. I could make use of some of the characters.

I have to agree w/ Howard and Frosty. You have a good start, but I think you should redo the background and lettering (title). Working with computer graphics is very time consuming. Keep working on it and you should be able to come up with something nice.
Good Luck!
P.S. If you are looking for a marquee printer, I got mine from emdkay and it was outstanding.
-
Ok guys, I took all your criticism and put it into play. This one is eye-catching, plain, and straight to the point. 5 min job. Thanx.
-See Ya!!!
-
Yeah way better... ;D
Plain and simple.
You should make the text darker though(tone down gamma correction).
There will be a light behind so the text might look washed out.
Also, the girls pic look little streatched.Narrow it down a little.

I think the biggest newbie photoshop mistake is the mis-use of the glow effect. If you must use glow don't use a pure white as it looks dead. Put some warmth or coolness in it with a slight tint. Also don't make it so thick. Remember when it lights up even the littlest hint of white is going to become blinding. And as snaake said, the characters are distorted.
-
K gotcha SNAAAKE and Howard. I'll do the darkening when I am printing it. Thanx.
-See Ya!!!

Yeah baby! That's more like it. Nothing gay about that CP, unless you're a girl that is and then it's totally gay! lol.
Nice work Hell, god 20 mins, I wish I could do such stuff in 20 mins!
-
Acutally Apollo, this isn't the CP overlay. I am still keeping the other one. This is the Marquee, I have to do some gamma correction on it though if I'm gonna have light shinning from the back with back lighting paper. Glad you like it. Don't get too excited ;D, your keyboard will get all sticky and the buttons will be hard to press. Thanx.

What's with all the gay comments?
-
I think Apollo has regressed to the age of 10. Either that or he has some severe sexual identity issues. ;)
-
Thanks H.C. ;)
The gay comments relate back to this thread.
