Those are both great! Rob Zombie is all over the place these days... I'm going to see him and Slayer in concert next month, should be a good one.

He sucks live. Good thing Slayer is there to save the day. ;D

Rob has definitely gone down hill as far as his live shows. I saw him way back in the day with White Zombie a few times and he sounded great. They last time I saw him, maybe 4 years ago, wasn't so good. I'm really looking forward to Slayer, I've never seen them live before.
-
They just kinda get out there and play nonstop and then walk off stage so don't expect any interaction.
I've bolded the important part.
No one goes to a Slayer concert wondering what witty comments they will toss out to the crowd. It's just time for ---smurfing--- metal!
-
Slayer's great live. It took them over an hour to get on stage with a pretty minimal set of props when I saw them, but it was worth it. They just kinda get out there and play nonstop and then walk off stage so don't expect any interaction.
+1. Last time they played here, it kinda sucked though, they played with Lamb of God, and I dont know if the sound guy had his head up his ass or what, but man. It sounded like they were playing in a gigantic metal box. Ugh. Was terrible. If I wasnt a die hard fan, all the songs would have sounded the same and I would have been pissed.
I got kerry kings autograph on a bar napkin after the show though, so that was cool. I bought him a shot. ;D

I'll second that... when I last saw them (early 90's, touring for "South of Heaven" and "Seasons in the Abyss") they put on a minimal show but it was awesome.
Funniest part for us at the time was that we saw them close to the end of their tour and by that time they'd gotten into the groove and had to add several more songs to their set in order to fill out the time; they'd gotten into the rhythm of playing fast enough that they shaved close to 10m off their set just from player faster. :D
Seeing them in August along w/Zombie, which should be good. Sheesh, only been 20yrs since I last saw 'em... :o

Those of us who have been to Tool concerts understand this. Maynard stands in the shadows and Justin typically has his back to the crowd the whole time.
-
Isn't Tool the band that builds the elaborate stages to perform on with the crazy video screens and stuff?

Thats because Maynard is a psycho. I know Ill probably get reemed for this, but man. I LOATHE Tool. I think they are they most overrated band EVER. Even more than U2. ::)
-
To each their own... I am a huge Tool/A Perfect Circle fan. I have tickets to see APC in August... Good summer for concerts here, saw Danzig last month, Zombie/Slayer next month, and APC in August!
-
I didn't like Tool until one day it just clicked. Seen 'em live twice and I'll go every chance I get from now on. The friend I went with has seen them seven times.

It's all about the music and the presentation, with the band NOT being the focus. Unless you have seats really close, you don't really see Maynard...just his silhouette.

Yeah, I've been to a Tool concert and it was exactly like this. Awesome concert, I'd go to another one in a heartbeat.
APC played here a little while back, in a small (2000 people) venue. 3 nights, each night they played a different one of their albums from start to finish. Of course by the time I heard about it, it was sold out. :badmood:
I'm gonna take a trip up to Maynard's vineyard one of these days.

Tool's okay, I guess. The singer actually seems pretty damn boring from that winery documentary. If we're gonna rip on 90s bands that have been in cruise control off of one decent song, you have to add Radiohead to the pile, too.
I thought Radiohead was older than the 90's.
Dude Danzig live is a cool show! My uncle knows him, he is a pretty weird guy too. I wish they would have got him to play Wolverine in the Xmen movies. He is super short, stocky, and buff. And he has an attitude. ;D
-
He still sounded great, but he's not quite buff anymore. He has a bit of a gut, but hell the guy is 56 years old and still kicks ass on stage!

Tool's had more than one popular song, but the real fan favorites didn't even get radio play. Also, they have only gotten better since the 90s.

Concert was this past Saturday.... Slayer killed it and Zombie sounded the best I have ever heard him! Slayer was no nonsense play-your-ass-off. Zombie had a great stage show, all in all a great night!
Saw two great bands (we skipped Exodus), a few fights, and a few boobs.
EDIT: added videos... from a few nights before the show I saw in Pittsburgh.

As usual, Dead Skin Mask is awesome.
