Title: Planning a full size MameRoom project. What Monitor?
Post by: Charlie97L on June 18, 2011, 10:28:37 am
Guys-

Ok, so I am almost done with the bartop for my wife's office, just a few detail things here and there.

this was a lead up to doing a full size cab in about a year or so, I'm probably going to use the mameroom UAII kit, or possible the arcade depot cocktail kit, depends on a few things.

my main question is what is the ideal monitor for the UAII kit?  i'm not particular about lcd vs crt.  But I see CRT's are becoming harder to find.  Is there an ideal size LCD for the space a 27" crt would take?

just trying to get planning/budget in order.

thanks!

Charlie

No. As a general rule, you design your cabinet around your monitor. The Mameroom cab is designed for a 25 to 27 inch 4:3 CRT. A widescreen won't look right in it. If I were using that design, I would just get an old
CRT tv

Cool, thanks for the tip.

It's a while off, I was just curious for that.  I just do not have the woodworking skills or the room to scratch build a cab, so a kit is my only option, but i'm not married to having a CRT.

Thanks.  :)
