Title: Should I buy a Gateway Destination 36" for a yet to be built Mame cab?

I found a Gateway Destination 36" monitor I can pick up relatively inexpensively and am wondering if anyone has thoughts about building a cab around one. 
I have a vertical oriented cabinet in an old centipede and am thinking about building a bigger horizontal one.  The centipede has a 25" 480i flat glass CRT and I'm happy with the picture via component with groovy mame ati drivers.  I found a 27" 480i flat glass CRT for $10 on craigslist I then I stumbled upon the Destination 36"

I have a couple of specific questions:

• is 36" too big for fighter style a cabinet?
• what is the average lifespan of a CRT like this? (guesstimate)
• Is anyone running one of these who can comment on its performance in a MAME cab and if they had to do anything unique to get it setup in XP as far as drivers or video cards?

well ignoring the weight of the thing I'd say go for it bigger is always better.  As for how long it will last really depends on the kind of life it's had already a really well built and maintaine CRT will last 40-50 years before it give's up the ghost, a dud could last as little as 3 months, however back when Dell was making those Dell was still a pretty new company and was putting really good stuff.

Keep in mind this will probably be a 31kHz monitor and thus Calamity's ATI drivers are going to need some modification to produce modelines for the higher horizontal rate. I'm talking with Calamity how about a modified version of VMMaker to generate modes scaled at 2X/2Y of the original resolutions so that it can be scaled to 31kHz and still appear native. Refresh rates should still be fine, however.
