Title: What spinner control to purchase?

Looking for advice on which spinner to purchase.

I will be playing the following games.

Arkanoid
Tempest

Any suggestions???

I just got my vortex, and I have never really owned a spinner or I have nothing to compare it to.  But it is an awesome spinner.  You grab hold to the knob and you give it a whirl and you can sit there stairing at it for years.  I am happy with my spinner now.

I just ordered the vortex for my cabinet.  I'll let you know what I think...

I believe those two games use very different spinners.  The Arkanoid one has gears and has a slower/heavier feel IIRC.

The Vortex will be perfect for Tempest, since it is based on the original arcade spinner.  It will work with Arkanoid fine too, although will probably not have such an authentic feel.

I don't have the Vortex, but having had 3 Oscar spinners (Model 1, Pro & Op/Down), I'm sure you would not be disappointed :)

Just to clarify - the MAME spinner roundup review on my site doesn't include the Oscar Controls' Vortex spinner (at least, not yet  ;))

It does, however, include the Oscar Pro, Up/Down, Model 3, a Tron Spinner, and the SlikStik Tornado spinner.
