Post by: UncleMame on June 01, 2011, 08:38:25 pm
I was just thinking about old times, wondering "Who else watched Saturday Morning Starcade and ate Star Wars Cookies?" and thought it would be a kick to hear about other folks Arcade memories.  Lets hear 'em.  :)

Riding my bike to the Morris County Mall to get a slice of sicilian pizza from Bart's and blowing my allowance in about 10 minutes at the arcade - mostly on Ms. Pac-man.  The arcade closed, the Bart's closed and finally the mall closed (and was turned into a Walmart/strip mall).  Oh well.

Beating Rastan with one quarter at an arcade at Circus Circus in Vegas.  My parents drove me cross country in a little FIAT from Cleveland to Sacramento and back when I was in 7th grade and I of course was too little to go into the casinos.  There was quite a crowd of bigger people around me, and they were all cheering me on by the last stage.

Ooooh I have loads of memories. Completing Double Dragon for the first time ever at Heathrow airport with my mate Andrew Dodd, Playing Mortal Kombat buzzed on caffeine at 4am in a motel in Florida, dumping all my months allowance into Ikari Warriors in the long since demolished ABC Cinema in Reading, discovering 720 in the Penny Arcade in Main street USA in Disney World Florida an thinking gaming would never ever get better than this.

Clearest of all I remember playing Moon Cresta in a hotel in the French Pyrenees at 1 franc a pop.

Ahhh the memories.

Edited to add.... Playing the first game in my own cab (which happened to be Pacman) and realising I had arcade heaven at my fingertips 24 hours a day.
