Title: FIXED - U360 joys dont work on startup, but buttons do

(I have yet to upgrade my u360 firmware or install the mala ultrastick mapper plugin, but I don't think that's the problem)

When I first installed a u360, it was working great, then when I restarted, it didn't work, but the buttons did.  Then in UltraMap I assigned its ID to #2 and installed a second u360 as #1.  At some point in re programming, it worked again (I think I set it to 4-way or something, then back to analog).  So both sticks were working and life was good.  On the next startup, same problem.  Now I'm sure these bad boys are meant to work on startup, is there something I'm doing wrong?  I'm unable to coax any activity out of them in UltraMap, the joys are unresponsive in the preview-calibration window.  I'm not using any USB extension wires or anything.  help?

Alright, I'm able to coax them back in UltraMap by setting them to 'Mouse Pointer', programming, then going back to Analog, then programming.  I saved this as "analog1and2"

how do I get this to stick after a restart?

I just posted something about this the other day. Go to firmware 2.3 for you U360's, likely they came with 2.5. You'll need the software from Ultimarc

Andy did post that he thought he had this fixed. Look for a new firmware soon?

I have sent the latest version to a number of people but no reports back yet on whether the problem is fixed.

Similar symptom - but I only have to reprogram a map and then reprogram back to analog after the u360 is unplugged from USB.  It goes through a reboot ok.  Note, I have been using the Mame joystick maps and keeping the analog checkbox checked in winIpac.  I'm not sure which firmware I have but it's whatever was shipping circa February 2011.

I requested the new firmware after seeing this symptom a few times over a couple of days (just installed the U360s), but I haven't been able to replicate it.  Each time I've shutdown/restarted the joysticks have come back up just fine. I will likely wait until the failure happens again to update the firmware.

I just reprogram mine with ultramap in a batch file on startup and everything is functional .

FIXED!

Andy swiftly sent me version 1.7 of the firmware (Ultrastik17.ufw) and I got em going in no time.  I dunno if I have shift functions anymore but wasnt really planning on em.

Thanks Andy!  Ultimarc is probably the best run business in this hobby, and there are a looottt of helpful people around these forums.  Here's hoping I can speak as highly of arcadedepot.com!
