I just picked up a Galaga 3 machine that was in great shape. I took a look inside at the boards and noticed a SuperPacman board attached to the Gaplus board. Any idea what this is?

It says right on there what that is... it's a FILTER BOARD... it's designed to filter the power that runs through it... I believe it filters out spikes but it could be noise... I dunno. The FCC mandated it B.I.T.D.... you can likely eliminate the filter board and the game would still run (I say likely because I've never had a GAPLUS board...I know Atari filter boards can be completely removed).

Thank you. I thought I may have lucked out and had a pacman card in there..

Yeah, I've got a Gaplus and mine has that same Super Pac filter board in it. The Namco Super Pac used the same pinout, so apparently they didn't feel the need to redesign the filter board for Gaplus. (The US version of Super Pac doesn't use an edge connector, but uses headers instead). Anyway, I've heard you can remove them too, and they only cause problems. I've left mine in, since it's working.
