Well, I just got done going through tons of Pantone colors for a design project at work. I guess it's a good thing I can tell the difference between my colors

4 for me, although the 4 I got wrong were on the last row, which I kind of rushed a bit.

I have two monitors, one isn't as good as the other when I moved the window back and forth the differences in colors were more noticeable on the better monitor.

I got an 11, thought that was kinda cool. My whole family has terrible eyes, I had to blow 5K just to get lasik, and I just had an eye exam for my betes', so its good to know that my cones work relatively well.  ;D

Got a 63 first try. 38 second time around with switching between monitors and adjusting accordingly. I Usually fail the number dot test pretty bad so I didn't expect a great score.

heh, this is one reason why you want am artist with good color experience to do things like accurate preservation efforts (pinball art...)  ,rather than a person whos not too color savvy, and has little experience with using them.

Im somewhat shocked at the variances in results though.  I assumed that may be slight differences... but the range of results is quite vast, all over the map.

Edit:  Took the test.  Got a Perfect   ;D

A little surprised, cause there were a few tones that were really tricky to tell apart.

Took it again. Three differences from the first time:

1. Monitor at work instead of at home.  :dunno
2. New glasses, same prescription mostly but these are cleaner/not scratched :)
3. Took more time, when I was done I did something else then came back for a final look before submitting.

7

Too bad it doesn't show you your graph highlighting the ones you've missed.

I took it again and after I thoguht I was done I zoomed way in and made more changes.

I got a 4.

I want to know which ones I missed.

Zoomings a bit of a cheat.  But anyways, it does show you which ones you missed.
Look at saints picture.  Theres bars under the colors which are 'off'.

It doesnt tell you the place where they are supposed to go.. but it does show you which ones.

I did two rows and gave up. The two I did only had maybe 4 wrong, but I couldn't stand messing with it any longer.

Did OND cheat?   All his white bars are lit up, which is an indication of an error.

 Maybe a glitch?

I did t-shirt designs for 2 years before they figured out I was colorblind.  They had a chart of about 16 colors that looked good coming from our printer and I didn't get outed until they told me to "pick a new red" and I wasn't able to sneak off and get a cashier to choose one.  Used to be real smooth about it, too.  "Hey, I'm having a hard time picking out a light green, which one do you like?" and all that.

Owner had to go sit in her office with a cigarette for awhile, told me I'd have never been hired had they known, but I had hid it so well I might as well get back to work!

So you're like that guy from Gattaca, huh?  Minus the whole bringing a bag of Jude Law's urine to work thing.

Yeah, I can't see even doing it. I was hoping for a 'answer these few questions' thing....which are probably not very conclusive.

At first I thought 'oh man, this looks like too much work'. But I'm glad I did it. This will be the first time ever I am happy to get a zero (",)

I already know I have huge colour issues, I can't differentiate between hues, I see blues as grey, so I thought this would be interesting. Turns out I can't finish it. I just spent about half an hour looking at it getting very muddled. I knew I had problems with colour, but WOW that really causes me issues.

I wouldn't sweat it. Since men have more problems than women, you could say that makes you more manly  ;D Which makes me, er....

I went back and tried this. Without too much block comparing, I got 8. I'm sort of surprised it didn't give an averages list or at least highest percentage per age group.

Why does blue have 650000 shades but every green is Hunter Green?

Meh, and 400 shades of tan -- that all look like "Antique White" to me.

I actually got a 35, FWIW...

I got a 4.  At first I had only read the first two posts which were like 14 and 19 or something and I was like, "Jesus . . . I thought I had great vision."  Then I realized lower is better.  The four I missed were all adjacent in the blue/green territory.

I only got halfway through because while my color vision may be an 8 my attention span is a 459.

So I took this and surprised myself with a zero.  Not surprised that I can discriminate color (lots of artists in my family) but surprised that I could do it on this test.  After working through the first line I couldn't keep my eyesight straight, my focus was shot, and so most of the test for me was just trying to keep my eyes from exploding.  Not very comfortable.

Got 16, but I kind ran through it pretty fast. And yeah, my eyes were wobbling after the second line....

Interesting though.
Title: Re: Color/eye test
Post by: Gray_Area on June 12, 2011, 05:54:29 am
At each line, I let my subconscious do a lot of the work, grouping major colors together without paying much attention. Then I started discriminating, trying not to second-guess too much. The second two lines were were harder, respectively.

Where did it show you which ones weren't correct?
