I am converting my generic cabinet that once housed a 1xxx-in-1 Jamma board to the, "Ultimate Dreamcast Arcade Cabinet." Should be running at 100% in a few weeks thanks to HarumaN.
Specs:
- Generic Cabinet with Sony 21" VGA Monitor, Happs buttons and sticks
- Sega Dreamcast Console
- 2 MadCatz Light Guns ($40 together off of Amazon)
- 2 Sega Fishing Rods ($30 off of Amazon)
- Wiring for arcade controls to DC ($100, again, thanks to HarumaN)
The plan is to drill one- 2" hole on each side for the light guns and fishing rods. Make a shelf for the dreamcast to sit inside of the coin door.
What I need (let me know if you have any ideas):
- Holders for the rods and guns for each side of the cabinet
- Some kind of rubber to cover the holes so they don't look rough.
Here is where I am at so far:

Picked up a 1 3/4" Hole saw and the caps for the light gun and fishing rod controllers:

Just sent HarumaN the cash for the controller hacks.
Any suggestions on holsters for the rods and guns?
Also any suggesting for finding a Dreamcast Themed Marquee?

OK, got all of the wood working done today.
Here is a video of all of it: http://youtu.be/hIu_kVhOisg (http://youtu.be/hIu_kVhOisg)
And here are some pics.

I love the DC, surprised more people haven't done something with it. For a marquee, something classic without every character on it would be stellar. Perhaps pick a favorite game or character and use that as the foundation. Sonic, Ryu, Ulala, Jacky, Dr. Eggman, etc. I always liked the Confidential Mission color scheme and design, myself.

Where is the best place to get these made? I am guessing Game Graphix?

Both Game on Grafix and Emdkay are very popular.
I've used Game on Grafix for a control panel overlay and I was very pleased. I will be using them again fro my current project.

Alright folks, this has been an interesting day.
First off, I picked up a Lacie 22" Monitor from a photographer for $25. He was moving to all Apple cinemas, so he just had a bunch of Lacie monitors to go. These cost $1600 when came out in 2000!
Needless to say it looks amazing and just fits the cab perfectly, no decasing needed. A huge upgrade from the 20" Sony Trinitron I had in there.

Then I decided to rewire everything for the controllers.
Went from this:

I will tidy it up a bit more once I get the controllers and everything hooked up.
