Title: How to share a 2.1 speaker system with 2 pcs?
Post by: notroubleclubber on May 14, 2011, 12:39:53 pm
I've got a mame arcade machine and I'm adding a fold out touchscreen that will run separately another pc with jukebox and quiz games. However I'd like to use the 2.1 speakers I'm using in the mame machine.
The speakers don't had to be used at the same time but would be nice.
They connect to the mame pc with standard jack plug.
Can I just tap into he existing wiring at the jack plug and make another set of wires with jack plug to go to the jukebox pc?

Would something like that do the trick. Plug the two PCs outputs into the female sockets, then the adaptor into the 2.1 speakers (supposing the bass runs off the stereo input of course)

I'm thinking I need the opposite with two males To go to both pcs and a female for the speakers to plug into.
The other idea was to plug the touch pc line out into the mame pc line in but not sure if this will work.

It would be good to use just the mame pc for both make and have the touchscreen come on separately for swp and jukebox games only as my mame pc has dual dvi outputs but I don't know how to configure this as never used dual screens before. This would save on the speaker problem and also the space problem inside the cab

Ah, then you'd need two of these. One from each PC to the splitter I posted.

Don't let the price frighten you. You'll probably pick up the 3 on ebay for less than the price of the splitter in maplin.

I decided to use 1 pc in the end and used the dual output to run my touchscreen.
I just cloned both images and now i have my jukebox and swp games on the touchscreen and people can watch or few the albums bigger on the other screen.

Just got to find a way of integrating etouch jukebox and simpletouchfe(for the swp games) into maximus arcade.
Im thinking just to use batch files in maximus to run simpletouchfe and then select either swp games or jukebox from that.
