Title: MK II Restoration: Looking for some harness help
Post by: xKalessinx on May 13, 2011, 05:32:16 pm
First off, this board has been a great read for the last several weeks/months.  I have read many threads and gained a lot of information, and I would like to thank you all for that (not specific to MK series!).

I started my project under the guise of a MAME cabinet, but as soon as I saw that the used cabinet I obtained had original Midway MKII stickers on the back, original harnesses, and other interior components I decided to move to a full MKII restoration.  With that said, all has gone well so far, but I have hit a snag on the control panel.  I am attempting to make this restoration as original as possible.  However, I am completely missing the wiring harness for the control panel.  Let me be clear, I have the JAMMA, but the control panel harness was modular using PANDUIT 15 pin IDC connectors and header pin connectors (to mate female to female).  I have seen historical threads of people finding and selling these connectors, but now I am hard pressed to find any.  I am hoping that someone may have some parts laying around from other restorations, or have no use for them. If anyone has a harness that is even better!

Any and all help/information would be greatly appreciated!

EDIT:  I found a really good photo from JasonSmith's thread that shows the exact connectors I am looking for.

Thanks for the information.  I have seen the real bob roberts mentioned alot, but never found the site you provided.  Unfortunately, it does not appear that the site shows these connectors.  I have sent a mail to the site in the hopes that he may be able to assist.

if your looking to do a full restoration your gonna be hard pressed to find those exact connector's, your best luck to hunt on ebay for a full MK wiring harness i have seen a few here and there, next i would try happs and their midway service center "find it on their contact us tap"

The next best option is to head to your nearest Radio shack and build yourself a a jack using molex connections for a nice clean look, or use quick disconnects for a functional but crappy look

those connectors arent really needed for it to be a restore. Their purpose is so you can disconnect the control panel wiring and remove the control panel. Really you could just hard wire it for now, and if if you find the connectors splice them in (or just use other connectors).

Thanks for the responses kalars123 and Malenko.  I believe I was real lucky, as a local contact had some kind of harness laying around and gave it to me.  Low and behold, it was the exact harness used for the Midway cabs!  Real lucky.  I  really wasn't too concerned if I could not find it.  I just wanted this project to be as close to original as possible, if possible.  (I had already started to assemble my molex and quick disconnect solutions).  Thanks for all of the assistance!

I'd love to see pictures of the cab. If you need pictures of a factory MKII for anything, let me know, I have one =)
