Title: If money wasn't a huge concern, what moniter would you put in this PC/X360 cab?

Let me start off with...I would love to build my own cabinet. But honestly I don't really have the tools or time to do so. So after some searching I found this cabinet for sale on the net...I don't know the rules on this forum about posting company's names, so I won't.

Their site says that it can fit a 33 inch monitor. I have been searching these forums for hours, and honestly it has confused me even more. So, I figured I would ask you guys what you think directly.

The cabinet will be set up for four players. I want to use the cabinet for my Xbox 360 fighting games, but I am also going to be putting a PC in there for some of the greats (X-Men, TMNT, Sunset Riders, etc)

If you guys have any advice on the monitor, I would very much appreciate it. In fact, if you think the cab I'm looking at sucks, or have better ideas for me, I would love to hear those as well. Thanks for your time.

As far as the monitor goes, I would go with a tv that accepts HDMI as an input source (pretty much any tv nowdays) if you aren't concerned about that authentic arcade look, and still want to hook up an xbox or PS3. Correct me if i'm wrong guys?

Post by: lilshawn on May 03, 2011, 02:53:09 pm: your main problem is that CRT monitors/tv's are almost entirely gone for good. the widescreen LCD's available now won't properly fit in the regular 4:3 hole they have provided.

if your just going to xbox it, you might as well just hang a plasma on the wall and build the lectern portion of the cabinet with quick connects for your audio video and power. :dunno

elkameleon - I'm not that concerned about the "authentic look". I have fun playing MAME games on my PC, so I figure it's not that big of deal. And here is a picture of the control panel from their site as well.

lilshawn - I would like to keep the monitor in the cabinet, even if I have to mod it to do that. But I do understand how you say it will be rough to find a good fit.

Thanks for all your help. I'll start looking at HDMI flat screens around 32 inches. See if I can find one that fits well.

Post by: elkameleon on May 03, 2011, 06:16:16 pm: You could use some sweet bezel artwork to fill out the gaps above and under whatever tv you shove in that hole, I think that would be a viable solution.
