I checked out the manual, didn't help much visually. I think what is missing is the isolation transformer. I'm pretty sure what is above and right of the circle is the actual power supply. It doesn't look like the wires in question were jumped (I had a game that someone bypassed the isolation transformer to get the monitor powered up, turns out they didn't test the power supply which was faulty).

Ooo! do you have a manual in electronic form I could look at? :applaud:
Before I gut this classic game i'd like to see if all I need to get it working is whatever is missing
-
Hi, I have sent you a e-mail with it attached - I couldn't find a way to attach a pdf on this forum.

Thanks Dan
The two black wires are soldered to the two brown wires and the two white ones are not connected to anything (if that helps)
Could I put a multimeter on the wires and see if theres current?
Check that link theres more pics

PM sent.

I found a resistor or a capacitor loose on one PCB and another lying on the floor of the cab, so although it really is very very sad, my only option now is to gut it and MAME it.
hate to see such a classic go down but ...
-
What do you think I can get for the parts untested? Monitor looks nice and the rest looks alright
-
MAME it and emulate the dedicated game... Thats always an option I guess.
-
oh yeah I definately will MAME it, 4 way joysticks and 2 buttons each side, LCD screen
Include the games that play well in 2 players cocktail mode.
It just breaks my heart this is such a gem
surely the PCBs and monitor etc are worth something
-
if you do mame it, mameplus has a head-to-head cocktail mode that works for horizontal games. The split screen may not be to your taste though, although I guess in that case one could always lay a divider across the screen. Anyway it's a way to get more simultaneous 2p games on a vertical cocktail... wish there were more of those in arcade history, but all I can really think of is the Atari sports games, Demolition Derby sort of, that multiplayer tank thing, and the Space Invaders cocktail ripoff where you both have a gun.
-
I don't know if the pinouts are the same, but you might be able to use a Taito or Midway Deluxe Space Invaders board too...might be worth checking in to. Would be better than gutting a complete (albeit non-working) classic.
-
This one has 3 boards in a removable frame, each one has 2 what looks like hard drive IDE connectors on the ends.
I dont know if its worth it, I dont even know where to get a power supply, im sure it doesnt have on or SURELY the fan at least would spin when you plug it in.
I dont know what im doing with electronics but I do know how to make a nice MAME cab, so......guess thats its fate

txt, etc, files have to be zipped.

Why not replace the caps?

Too late, its completely gutted with a pc sitting inside it waiting for a monitor
Sorry its a damn shame but probably most of that stuff was wasted, wasps nests everywhere all over the PCBs n stuff
Anyone wanna buy this stuff? Nice 13" monitor, probably works
