I recently called my local glass shop and requested the standard greylite #14. I however was told when they returned my call that they no longer produced it (the manufacturer) but offered greylite #2 as a substitute and said it is slightly darker. Does anyone have any experience using this glass number? Kinda wondering if the #2 is the same as the super dark one (8% light). Thanks for the help.

So I decided to call them directly, and they confirmed there is no Greylite #2 (though 2 glass companies around here told me there was, so I'm guessing whatever company REP is around here has the wrong information) They believe he was referring to super grey, which is 8% light visible. While talking with the guy he said they were not producing it much (if at all) due to the economy, and it not being needed enough (not enough demand), to continue producing it currently. He did however take my dimensions down and said he would look into locating some stock (if they have some around), and would get back with me.
I guess we will see. Kind of weird to get told Greylite#2 from 2 separate companies though. Probably just a misinformed rep.

I have used both. The new Greylite#2 is DARKER but very close. Not much choice anymore really...

Just go with tinted plexi. It bends more than glass, but it's a lot cheaper and you don't get the run around by Greylite when you attempt to purchase some.
