Title: Mortal Kombat II CP Overlay Artwork
Post by: leapinlew on April 29, 2011, 09:13:05 am
Does anyone have a editable copy, or high res version of MK2 cpoverlay? I'm building a MAME cab from a MK2 cab and I would like to try and squeeze a trackball in there.

Looking for someone to help me with a MKII overlay. All I have is a high res JPG. I would like to make it a 6 button layout, but duplicating the lightning on the CP is beyond my skills.

How does this look? I really want to keep the MKII look, but if I do the artwork, I'm going to have to figure out a way to get around the lightning.

Bump.  I would love a copy of the finish product as I was looking for the same thing.  A 6 button MK2 overlay with room to add a trackball.  Thanks.

well crap...

I have no idea where my local PSD file is. I spent some time looking for it. I kept a copy on www.megaupload.com (http://www.megaupload.com) and I think we all know how that turned out. Maybe someone can vector it or edit the original. Sorry. If I run across it on an external, I'll send a message.

Thanks leapinlew, I appreciate you looking.  I guess I am going to have to learn how to do artwork from scratch.  I have NEVER done more then minor photo editing before but I do have a copy of Paint Shop Pro 8 that I bought for about 2 bucks when I worked for Best Buy a couple of years ago.  So I have never worked with Vectors and layers or much else with these tools. I know there is a lot of help to be had here on these forums, I have read through a lot of it but the knowledge is not sinking in.  I will probably have to farm out the work to one of the other members offering custom overlays but still going to try myself first.

Here's all the MK2 artwork I have including 2 PSD versions of the CPO. Let me know if they work for you.

Wow thanks a lot.  More than I could have expected.  I've been playing around with the control panel in Paint Shop.  I still need to add all a lot of things (Player 1 panel, Track ball, spots for extra buttons).  But I am fairly happy with my progress so far.  Thanks again...

I guess I am pretty much done.  Over all I am happy with how it turned out.  A good first effort having never done any kind of graphic work in the past.  A good learning experience anyway.  I went with a two player 6 button layout.  I also have a dedicated 4 way at the top with the use of the the two buttons on the right.  I will have a 2 1/4 trackball that will be in the middle and as far toward the bottom as I can mount it (to keep it as far away from the 4 way as I can).  The track ball will cut into the MKII logo a little bit but I dont consider that too big of a deal.  I plan on cutting the Coin buttons on the front of the cabinet just below the control panel.  The local Arcade uses tokens so I will probably grab a couple of those and glue them onto the buttons.

My project thread is here if anyone is interested...   http://forum.arcadecontrols.com/index.php?topic=121185.0 (http://forum.arcadecontrols.com/index.php?topic=121185.0)
