Title: Weird degaussing issue
Post by: stephanh on April 27, 2011, 11:58:47 am
Hey folks,
I have a WG D9800 and it has a discolored blob on the top right of the screen. I have a degaussing coil which I used to try and fix the problem to no avail. I have removed all speakers from the cab and moved the cab around in the basement to try and eliminate the blob. Still no fix. I’m thinking the frame is magnetized. How the heck to you demagnetize a metal frame?

Any ideas?

Thanks
Stephan

if you remove the frame (couple of bolts) and it goes away, then yes it's the frame OBVS!

to get rid of it... you can use an even more powerful magnet...

or heat up the metal (torch, fire, superpowers, etc) get it nice and red hot... that will get rid of the magnetism in it...but may also weaken/distort the metal, so use with caution.
