I wanted to add a 2nd speaker to a Dynamo HS-5 (stereo Neo Geo conversion) and I was wondering if anyone could tell me if this is the original speaker, what kind it is, and if it's shielded. I pulled it out of the cab, and I would assume it was original. It only had screws in 2 opposite corners (the power switch is the same way).

There were no wires attached when I pulled it out (but I tested it). The monitor is in excellent condition, and I was wondering...does the speaker being connected or not make a difference, magnetically? I wanted to reconnect it (right now the machine has an old stereo speaker laying on top of it hooked up...got it that way too) but I guess I wanted to make sure it's safe for the monitor.
Also, how important are matching speakers? I wanted to find another HS-5 speaker, for that old skool street fighterish sound, but I'm sure it would be easier to buy a new pair. I'm really dreading having to thread 2 screw for the new speaker in that tiny space. I could barely get this one out as it was (needed to, to wire & photograph).

Guess I should go ask over at KLOV.

Don't know if that is the original speaker, or what kind it is. But it is definitely not sheilded. A sheiled speaker will have a metal "cup" that goes over the magnet. As far as being connected or not affecting the speaker magnetically, even when the speaker is unhooked there is still a large magnet on the back. And that magnet can have an effect on your monitor if it's close enough, but you say the monitor is great, so I don't think it's much to worry about. I have a pair of mismatched speakers in the Two-Headed Beast right now (one is much better quality and newer by about 7-10 years), and it sounds fine to me. Hope this helps you out a little.
