I just got my Aimtrak kit and got everything hooked up... I have the led panel mounted as instructed, I can see they are powered up by looking at them through a camera... I shut down and restarted the computer and after getting back into windows I plug in the usb hooked to the gun sensor... At this point I cannot move the mouse... I look in device manager and see that it detected and installed another HID-Compliant mouse device... So now I have two of these, one is my trackball and the other is the gun sensor as it appeared when I plugged it in...
I have no mouse control and when I pull the trigger for the 5 seconds nothing happens...
I am at a stand still and can't go any further.... Not to mention I have a 5 year old that is dieing to play some Police Trainer and he doesn't understand why I can't just make it work...
Andy please help....

I'll try to help ya out.....have you tried this-->http://www.ultimarc.com/AimTrak%20Setup%20Guide.pdf (http://www.ultimarc.com/AimTrak%20Setup%20Guide.pdf) Start on page 11 on down.

Yeah, I've been studying that for hours now... I haven't gotten to working with it in mame yet... I plug it in and it does nothing... I'm thinking it's defective...
-
Is the utility showing the aimtrak connected...and can you change the ID?
-
No it doesn't.. In fact when I try to launch the utility nothing happens.. I keep trying to open it and it never opens, but when I disconnect the gun sensor the utility will open... Wtf...
-
Sometimes, my Aimtracks do this, use Taskmgr (Ctrl+Alt+Del) to end task all AimTrak.exe's, then unplug the Aimtraks (not just the powered hub they're most likely plugged into). Follow the Guide now. The AimTraks need to be "powered down" to reset and if they're plugged into a powered hub, they will never reset.
-
They are plugged directly into the computer.. I've tried end tasking the exe's and disconnecting the sensor... Nothing works...

I just decided to try it on my other computer.. It's a windows 7 machine which is different than the Windows XP SP3 machine in my MAME... It does the exact same thing. The LED board has power which is confirmed by looking at it through a camera, when I plug in the gun sensor board my computer identified it as HID-compliant mouse... But that is as far as it goes... Initally the mouse does not move when I point the gun sensor at the screen and when I hold the trigger down for the at least 10 seconds or so it does nothing. My understanding is that it will start calibration and my mouse cursor should move up to the top left corner... This does not happen...
When I try to run the Aimtrak config utility it won't open... But after disconnecting the gun sesnor board fromt he usb the Aimtrak utility opens... Now with the utility open if I again connect the gun sensor to the usb the utility will then lock up...
This is very frustrating to me.. I've seen nothing but praise for the Aimtrak for it's ease of setup and use which leads me to believe this is a defective unit...

Email Andy at Ultimarc and he'll help. If it ends up being defective, he'll replace it.
-
I emailed him when I posted this thread... He replied back and suggested that I remove the cover on the camera lens as to make sure it wasn't be in blocked... That still doesn't explain why the calibration won't start... I tried it and everything looked ok...
I made a short video real quick as to what happens when I plug it in... Not the best quality as it was with my phone but still it's clear as to what's going on...

I think your right Jason....the sensor looks to be defective....we'll see what Andy has to say....I know I had one awhile back that acted a simular way and ended up being defective.
-
I have yet to hear back from Andy since I told him the sensor was clear... I'd really like to get the details to for a replacement...
-
The replacement is on it's way... Thank you Andy...

Got the replacement and it works great... Thanks for the quick turn around Andy...
