Title: Completed My New Mame Cabinet
Post by: Cardie on August 27, 2003, 11:25:09 am
Well, after a year of trying to convince the other half, I finally have my Mame Cabinet at home, running nicely (but needing a huge help in the software department), so I thought I'd post a link here to say "I'm In The Club, I've Got One."

This page on my Blog has my first thoughts and a picture. http://www.symbiandiaries.com/archives/ewan/000508.html

The cabinet is based around the Defender design, with a more pronounced shelf under the controls for a keyboard tray. Two player "Streetfighter" layout, with two 'Coin Buttoons' on the door and a three button layout for P1, P2 and "Escape" butons.

A 17" Dell Monitor. and around 100 watts of sound power (plus a sub woofer in the base) are hooked into a P3 450 with 64mb (does Roms up toa round 1995 with little problems).

I'm using DOS Mame under Windows 98 and GLaunch as the Menu Interface.

I'm very tempted to leave the whole thing in black apart from the Top Bezel, and perhas a little bit of work under the controls. Artwork isn't my strong point, and I doubt it'll get any further into the house than the conservatory.

If you want to spruce it up just a bit, then consider getting some generic Data East or Capcom sideart off ebay, it usually goes pretty darn cheap, and looks better than just plain balck sides.

But don't use any sideart that goes to a specific title, that is a big no no. =)
