I'd like to buy a TV for use with MAME. I'm not sure, however if I should go for a new model with flat screen and 100hz or pick a more old looking model with convex screen and 60hz (it's cheaper, but that's not the point here). The idea of 100hz is tempting because I think my eyes wont suffer after long periods of gameplay, specially when you sit close to the tv, but it definitelly isn't as authentic as 60hz. Same happens with flat screens: they're better in terms of picture quality and don't have problems of picture not fitting in the screen. I think the best would be an old looking tv with rounded screen corners and convex screen, but featuring 100hz. I don't know if there's such a thing available in the market.

I was a little worried that the this would happen or the picture wouldn't look as good when you are so close to the TV. However, neither was a problem at all. I have a 27" Sharp 27U-S600 TV using s-video w/ a Radeon 7500. I also have had no problems with the picture not fitting the screen. I'd recommend the convex screen.

check if your front end of choice will run on TV resolution too.
I've heard that emulaxian doesn't like it... I've got mine set up with an old 17" pc monitor, as a temporary solution.
