Title: Control panel planning help.....
Post by: DataWest on April 12, 2011, 03:08:14 pm
Here's what I need (if anyone knows of a template that would be awesome)

4 player, 7 buttons for players 1 and 2, 4 buttons for players 3 and 4.

No trackball

Flightstick and spinner in DoT correct spacing...about 9.5 inches apart.

Has anyone done a CP like this? Maybe the flightstick could go between p 1 and 2 where the trackball normally goes. But then where would the spinner go? Immediately to the left would be p 1 buttons and stick. I just dont want to have to put the flightstick and spinner above p 1 and 2 where I have to reach over and be uncomfortable playing DoT. I have a turbotwist 2 so it wont take up a ton of space, but I just cant figure out where to put it to the left of the flightstick and not be directly beside it.

I hate to triple post but I wondered what you guys thought about this. I have just never seen a flightstick anywhere near where the trackball usually is.

Any suggestions or feedback?

Data, draw it up and play with the drawing a bit.  You've got to provide more dimensions than just the 9.5" separation.  Without, its difficult to offer opinions.

BTW, turbotwist 2 isn't push and pull, which is what you want for DoT.

Yeah I know. I have a stick that has 2 extra buttons on it for the up and down.

Ok I like this layout

If you have Microsoft visio here is that actual file for the layout http://www.ogredog.com/files/Mame%20CP%20Construction/MAME%20Controls%20V2.vsd (http://www.ogredog.com/files/Mame%20CP%20Construction/MAME%20Controls%20V2.vsd)

Stumped as far as how I can have DoT spacing with a layout like that. Remember no trackball too
