I got an old PSP 1000 and the right trigger doesn't spring back properly. The left is gonna go soon as well. Any thoughts on a cheap repair?
Thanks
Mike

Opened it up yet? I haven't found the need to open mine up yet, but could just be a need to reseat the mechanism acting as the spring or whatever's doing the job.

This will give you an idea of what your getting yourself into when opening the psp.

The next link is a place to order replacement parts from. I ordered a replacement faceplate for my 1000 and had no problems with them and best of all they are inexpensive and do free shipping.

Like others have said befor me open it up im a complete noob when it comes to electronics and even I managed to change the screen on mine after the girlfriend claimed she accidentally stood on it!
Its such a simple machince to fix and get parts for, my screen only cost me 11 euro, 18 euro delivered, and 5 mins to put it in.

I've fixed about a half dozen so far, with various issues. They aren't too bad, but you need to take your time and remember everything you did so you can do it all in reverse. I also bought my parts at DealExtreme, and while most are pretty good, they may not have the same feel / fit. I replaced a shoulder button in one of mine and it works fine, but it is quite a bit "squishier" then the other OEM part. Something to consider if that's important to you.
You might want to order a screw kit as well. The tiny screws are easy to loose, and the screw kits are pretty cheap.

be sure to tighten them case screws evenly & lightly as them case screw's strip on the female side very easily and then the face buttons go goofy if you strip a few..
