let me know guy's

I have a few but there the type with the flap that is black that hide's behind the actual pc case but I am after one where it goes into a 3.5 bay and the actual 3.5" floppy bezel/face plate show's.

I have a new pc case on the way for a older gaming rig I am building and just want to make sure I have the right drive for it so it dont look like the face of the drive was broken off on a new pc case  :banghead:

Well unfortunately I must have already gotten rid of mine because I cannot find them. And the only ones I have left are without face plate.

Sorry.

not really but I need to fill the void but if I do need it then it is there type of thing becuase the pc rig is for win98 and prior games and mainly a dos aged type rig nothing fancy or powerfull it's just to play orgininal's that wont run correctly on XP or higher machine's.

some of the older games require a floppy boot disk too.

I have the gabriel knights silver load shattered steel die hard trilogy star wars and the alike etc. and none like XP or scummVM so this way I can still play all the classic's and current's is all between my various pc's.

the pc case I pulled the guts from for the classic's was the original and looked like it was from the 60's and was yellowed cracked rusty just all around nasty where it did not even look right anywhere in my home it's like having a shag carpet in a modern home so I figured I would give it an overhual and bring it's looks up to date lol.

I built an old PC complete in Beige case (for authenticity ;D ) for running DOS games and older Windows games. Most older games don't run well in anything over Win98 and if they do, they have graphical issues or crash somewhere during play. I have an old Sound Blaster1 in it and a Voodoo3. hehe There is also 1 gig of RAM in it which is overkill but I had it laying around. Was just playing Shadow Warrior and Duke Nukem the other night. LOL

I know there is DOSBox and similar emulators but I don't like emulators. Anyhow...sorry to derail the thread. Just wanted to say that I am doing the same thing for older PC games.

Kinda the wrong place to be hanging out if you don't like emulators.   :laugh2:

Having a Win98 machine is always a good idea for those DOS games.  I have an old war game (Perfect General II) that is a pain to run in a newer machine.  It can work but it's just not the same.

;D I should have specified...aside from MAME I don't like emulators. And the reason I settle for MAME is because you can't exactly collect every arcade cab.

For everything else except for arcade games, I collect the real hardware only. And as a matter of fact, I don't even have a MAME cab yet. Only real dedicated cabs. I keep telling myself that I am going to turn one of them into a MAME cab but I cannot bring myself to do it and don't have the time/patience to build one from scratch.

I know you were just messing with me, but I don't feel that this forum is all about emulators at all. It is about Arcade/Pinball mainly and the emulator part is just a portion. What attracted me to this forum to begin with was seeing the threads of things that people were doing when building cabs and restoring them. It is very interesting to me. It had nothing to do with the emulation part really.

You're right, it's more than emulation.  I knew what you meant but I still found it to be hilarious.

gotta love the brand name!!

yeah guy's same reason i am revampin it the emu's for the older games are just not the same either there choppy video alvin and the chipmunk voice's choppy sounds or they run in turbo and it is just not the same as playing them as they were meant to be played plus some take alot of farting around to even work somewhat decent.

I will grab the nippon's from new egg but if someone has one cheaper I am still all ears until i can no longer resist the temtation..

I have a lot of internal type floppy drives that are from Dell Dimension 4600 machines.

I'm not sure where you are at in MI, but I just sent a lot of computer stuff in the office over to MSU surplus.
They might be a good place to look on a Tuesday or Friday when they are open to the public.
