I'm awaiting arrival of my bartop 2 from mameroom and ordered a blank control panel. as it stands I will be making it a 2 player with 4 buttons for each player. As I posted before I have no tools except a dremel and a drill I borrowed. So I know I need to route out the control panel 1/4" to mount the mag stiks on the underside of CP( its 3/4" mdf) . Does the dremel router attachment do this effectively or do I need to purchase a router? I havent picked up either yet, thanks.

Dremel is serously underpowered to do any routing tasks on a CP. A cheap router is 200x better.

+1 on boba's comment, Dremels are great for smaller stuff, but routing CPs for sticks... it'll take so long, you'll burn out your dremel before you finish.

A laminate trimmer would be a step up from that, and it"ll do the job. Do read ALL the safety precautions, [the manual] or related threads
here. Nobody needs to get hurt.

In addition to the dremel being underpowered, the router attachment does not keep the dremel centered/adjusted as tightly as a proper router can. Kinda' wobbly.

They are OK when you want to trim something small but they dont have the weight and stability for a clean job of any size. Even for smaller fiddly work I'd prefer a router with a fine bit any day.
