I need a program where I can change the extensions of about 2000 files. Anyone know a program that can do this?

Go to download.com and search for 'renamer', plenty of utils listed for this job. I think theres one called 'rename-it' that used to be pretty good for this sort of thing.
GSXR.

If all the files are in one directory, then just use this...
"rename *.txt *.log"
Just open a Command prompt window & "cd" into the directory & type that command (with txt & log replaced with the appropriate extensions).

It really is more powerful and versatile than Windows will ever be. Command-lin OS's always are. That's why Unix has been around so damn long :)

Your absolutely right guys.
And the easter bunny is real, there is a goverment conspiracy involving aliens, and m$ is out to get you.
Seriously play with dos if you want to. Just don't ever say it's superior to anything, save maybe another command-line based os.

Dos rename did the job just fine and very quickly i might add.

I agree (all except the alien thing (http://www.image4u.org/transtrader/emoticons/wink.gif)). Once upon a time, stones were state of the art projectile technology. And while they may still be usefull for chasing away the neighbor's dog or knocking a stray frisbee out of the gutter, they are no longer the weapon of choice for retrieving tonights dinner or driving off an invading horde. I enjoyed my time with DOS (we bonded)...I still ocassionally play with DOS; but I no longer use DOS to accomplish my routine tasks (need more power). This board will naturally attract those of a nostalgic mindset, so the DOS adoration is understood. I had to comment ( a chance to agree with Howard ;D )
Opinions vary!

Hehe, ever heard the "if an os was an airplane" anology?
In it, dos is the airplane that takes off, flys 5 miles, needs to change directions so it lands, points the plane in another direction and takes off again, only to have to land and change direction again 5 miles later.
In other words dos can really only do one thing at a time (tsr's excluded) so it's extremely inferior to windows.
Just thought I would add that in because it's rarely ever bought up in a dos vs windows debate. ;-)
