Post by: Faxanadu Champ on March 26, 2011, 01:23:51 am
Hey, this forum has really helped me out in the past...  was looking into buying a 'Hook' cabinet that needed work and this forum was super friendly and helpful!!!

Wanted to post that my 2 best friends and I are doing a Zelda 64 Marathon for 48 hours- all proceeds go to the tragedy in Japan

RIGHT NOW! we are on hour 6 or so. The marathon ends Sunday night at 8pm EST.

Both classic Zelda games for the N64! Come watch us slogg through and drink Mead and eat crusty bread while doing so!!

www.TeamMountainGaming.com (http://www.TeamMountainGaming.com) for the live stream

Thanks guys!! Hope to see you there and contribute to a great cause :)

Gauntlet on the NES. A buddy and I wanted to see of there was an ending. Started Friday night, finished Monday morning. Apparently there isn't an ending in the NES version. I don't think I touched the NES for nearly three months after that.

Good luck.

I would've posted the way to beat him a little easier, but I hate having to sign up for accounts on something that I probably will never post on again.  So I didn't.

Trick is to hold diagonally back while swinging your sword against DL.  Works fairly well against him.

I had this nice two part post but I lost it. Oh well.

In a nut shell. That video looks kind of dark and unrefined. Definitely not the way I remember it. I remember being it somewhat brighter and the tiles seemed to be a tad larger/detailed. I'm 100% certain there is no ending to the Gauntlet I own/played. After thinking about it, I thought maybe I did get it mixed up with something like Dark Chambers (which is similar and definitely does not end). So I pulled out my NES box and dug around until I found what I was looking for.

I have Gauntlet II. To double check, I checked a couple of Walkthrus specific to GII NES. Though none of the writers went past level 200 (I'm pretty sure I reached way beyond that) they all believe the game never ends.

So there you go, I own and played Gauntlet II, not Gauntlet. Odd that Gauntlet II (NES) isn't even mentioned on Wikipedia yet the Gauntlet version is.
