I am in the process of building/picking out a cheap MAME PC for my new cabinet and stumbled on one that caught my interest. I am trying to keep under the $300 price range. Do you think this PC will be fast enough to efficiently run Street Fighter 4? I am assuming I would need to upgrade the graphics card...

Proc: Pentium Dual Core E6700 3.2GHz (2MB L2 Cache)
Mobo: Intel G41 Micro ATX Motherboard (Model:GA-G41M-Combo 1333MHz FSB)

Hard Drive: 1TB (7200 RPM)
Video: Intel GMA X4500 (onboard)

Should do fine with mame but according to MAWS Street Fighter 4 is not emulated by mame you would probably need the PC version.
-
Yep, I will be using the PC version. I am sure that should be fast enough for most of the games I am looking to play. My biggest concern was SF4.

You are going to need a way beefier video card to play sfiv
-
Yup onboard video won't run sf4. It uses advanced shaders. You are going to need a pcie card with a lot of ram and a decent buss speed to run sf4.
Also I'm not entirely sure about the processors.... they should be fast enough, but the only thing I can get sf4 to run on well is my quad core.
I know you look at sf4 and think it's just a lousy fighting game, but it's actually a beast. They actually released a stripped down version as a benchmarking tool if that tells you anything.

Your going in the wrong direction with this project . You should defiantly use an Xbox 360 with hacked controllers. You will be able to play the new Super Street Fighter 4 plus play online. You could also play all the other fighting games for the Xbox like Marvel Vs Capcom 3.
I put a Jtag Xbox 360 so I can play all games off a hard drive, but that's a different story.

I'm very reluctant to reccommend putting a console in a cabinet, but in this particular case I tend to agree. Capcom has pretty much stated that you aren't going to see pc releases of future fighting games from them. SfIV is already outdated unfortuantely, and with mvc3 and the new mk it doesn't make a lot of sense to build a beast of a pc for a lone fighting game that isn't that deep to begin with.

yeh console all the way... sfvt, sf3 3s on xbl coming out soon. mvc2 on xbl....
-
btw, there are $50 video cards that will work with it... but onboard, your out.
Is it ONLY for SFIV?

SF4 was only one of the select games I wanted to run on it. I will also be running MAME and some console emulators on it (a select few NES, SNES, PSX, and Dreamcast games), along with...yes...angry birds...
I do not plan on running any 3D-based MAME games. Dreamcast and SF4 are the most GPU intensive games on the machine.
