Title: How do repair/replace the player A button from an Area 51 arcade? [HELP!!]
Post by: XNIF on March 25, 2011, 03:34:24 pm
I have an area 51 and it's almost done! But for some reason the player A button (the red one) does not work well. Hitting it softly 10 times gives me 1 credit :)
The thing is.. i do not have a clue how to open the cabinet to get to the control panel! I opened the backside but it there are now screws to get any further!

here is a movie so you can see how it looks, maybe someone had a suggestion?

Buttons on a control panel are usually accessed by releasing the control panel with latches that are found on the sides of the cp.   These can usually be accessed thru the coin door.

Thank you Boba....  but in this case there was no way to release some kind of clamp or something. I opened the speaker grill on the front, removed the speaker.. and then i could access the buttons.  A new switch and plays like new :)

Good to know.  Glad you got a new switch in.  Never heard of that method of getting at the switches but the cab is a unique design so I guess it has a unique access method.
