the cab in question looks like this.

im thinking of noching out the corners and making a panel thats a bit wider then the cab thats also level on top

I have that cab. I think you will be unhappy with it as a 2 player setup. The screen is too flat, and viewing angles from the side are very poor. You practically have to put your head inside the cabinet monitor area as it is, just to play scramble.
If you do decide to convert it, donate the control panel, boards, etc to someone who can use them. I could use the URL power supply, and that joystick looks interesting too (hint hint) :P
Wasn't this machine on flea-bay about a month or two ago?

How do you know it's a STERN cab? 8)

i just stole that pic off ebay as an example. my cads already stripped

i have that cab as a 2 player setup. Mine was from a Berzerk game. The Metal CP was already cut for a 2 player one. But it was only 3 buttons per player. :(

a Berzerk cab has a much more vertical monitor viewing area, with better viewing angles:

It has a larger control panel area as well.

oops i thought they were all the same. It'll be tough getting 2 players and 6 buttons on yours :(
