Forgive me if these are dumb questions... I've searched around but I'm slow when it comes to PC stuff (my last cab was a PS1 shoved in a box with a TV):
1. MALA prompts me for a controls.ini file, which is not included in the install, nor can I find any active links to it on the internet. Anybody know if I need it, and if so, where I can find it? I was able to play Ms. Pac with the keyboard, so not sure if it is necessary (I will eventually play games with a sanwa hooked through a Hori EX2 PCB to the PC via USB).
2. I messed around with MAME UI before MALA, and was able to access all sorts of configuration options... how do I change all these options (resolution, etc.) through command line MAME (which only gives me a game list, I can't right click).
Again, sorry for the noob questions... I am just happy I have the games showing on a TV screen... that alone took weeks (and four tvs, and three graphics cards...)

Controls.ini link (http://www.emucr.com/2010/11/controlsdat-v01401.html)
You can use mameui as your mame executable and it should start in command line mode with mala.

Thank You!

Hmm, did not know that, I for some reason thought it had to be command line MAME. Sweet.

Just point mameui to the same ini folder that command-line mame uses. That way, you can update the ini's with the visual interface and play them with the command line mame and mala.

OK, i am an idiot, I forgot about the TAB menu in-game, allowed me to adjust all the controls and screen stretch options I needed.
Can I just say, MAME and MALA are brilliant? I am constantly amazed at the depth of features. I am very much looking forward to making my own custom MALA layout to match my cab. Love it... I can see why people always build multiple MAME cabs...I am already planning more...
