Title: Problems with mame scanlines after upgrade

I am using mame 0139 and previously used the scanlines.png which worked well with my inboard intel graphics and pc monitor. However I decided to upgrade the graphics to a ati radeon 512mb pci express.
Now it all runs brilliant apart from mame now doesn't show the scanlines.
The configuration is still the same so what is the problem?

If you switch back to the on-board intel graphics, do the scan lines return?

There is no reason I am aware of that a video card would impact the scan line overlay. Are the png's in your /artwork folder? Can you post the relevant portion of your config.ini file?

the config hasnt changed between me using the onboard video and the new grafix card.
Im guessing its because the resolution is different with this new card as the screen seems "bigger" and as i was using scanlinesbg.png or something it was only just noticable using the on board grafix so im wondering if i cant see it now because the resolution is slightly different.
Im going to try and change what png i use to see if that has any effect.

Try re-setting the effects in the Advanced tab. Then re-select your desired effect. If that doesn't work, try a fresh directory of MAME.

What advanced tab. Im using command line version of mame 0139

Hah, yeah, I was thinking MameUI. If you don't know your way around an ini, then use UI.

Had a go at changing the scanlines type today and found one that wasagood effect.not entirely original but it does work and to the untrained eye looks fine.
