I'm currently in the planning stages for my first cabinet. I'm seriously considering using a car amplifier for my Logitech Z-680 speakers (I don't have the control pod they connect to, so I figured that would be the next best thing). I'm looking into using one of those that has 4 channels, where you can bridge two to power the subwoofer. It may be overkill for some of the older arcade games, but there's nothing like the boom that comes for example when dropping a quarter for Mortal Kombat...
I've seen some videos on youtube on how to connect a car amplifier to a computer PSU, but I don't think I have things totally clear. So how exactly is it done? What things should I look after? I know I can get the 12v from the yellow cables, but what about Amps? And most importantly, is it even possible to have the PSU run both the computer AND the car amplifier? How much juice do I need for that?

Please search in this very forum section (actually just scroll down the first page of posts!). Not only have I done it, but there's lots of other posts about using car amps as well.

I've some of them, but I haven't found a clear answer about using the PSU that is actually running the computer...
In any case, it seems like I'll be able to use my Logitech Z 680 speakers without the control pod (and still use the amplifier that is attached to the subwoofer!), so I may not need a car amp.

I would not suggest using a PSU that is also running your PC at the same time. You must have a separate power supply for the audio amp.
