Title: WTB/WTT: Galaxian/PacMan coin door/parts
Post by: jcoleman on August 25, 2003, 11:41:01 am
Anyone have an extra?  I have two fairly crappy-looking  doors that I plan to make one decent door out of, but if someone has a better looking door than what I can put together, I'd love to have it.  Of particular interest are clean, rust-free coin slots and rejection buttons.

This is one of the last pieces of my machine, soon to be posted here...don't want to spoil it by posting pictures too soon.  :)

I also wouldn't mind having a Midway service panel...would come in quite handy, I think.

Thanks,

John

Funny you posted that. I recently came into several Midway coin doors.  They all need work, most (if not all) need the silver front plate replaced.  This was going to be my next project, but I can start now if you're interested.

Can you post some pictures?  I don't recall if the coin rejection buttons are replaceable...if they are, those and the chrome coin slots are really all I need.  My two doors have the classic mirror-M faceplate and a Bally-Midway faceplate, so a full door likely won't be necessary.  Mechs can wait...although I have two that are likely in working order.  Does anyone know where to find a manual for the coin mechs?

Also, do you know what paint will best match these?  Mine have a few scratches, but if spray paint is going to look bad on them, I can live with scratches.

Thanks,

John

Ah well.  I won't be parting these out.  I've got enough parts to make (I believe) five doors.  Time will tell.

As for the paint, try Rust-oleum texture paint.  I've been using it on all my recent doors, and it comes out excellent!

In that case I am definitely interested in a complete door.   If you have one with no mechs, that's my first choice.  :)  Got photos?

Nope.  They're all standard Midways in varied condition.  Some are parts doors, and some are doors that need parts.

Got them from my usual source.  I'll clean them up and rebuild them.  In fact, I've started on one tonight, since you piqued my interest.

W/O mechs is no problem.  Neither is with mechs.  I've got quarter and .900's
