Title: Screwed the pooch-Need advice on monitor replacement
Post by: leeb18509 on March 15, 2011, 10:23:34 pm
So I bought a little multi-cade for the gameroom.  It's a Taito Gameroom Classics made by the no longer pvgtech.  Standup version with a 21" monitor.  Long story short, I broke the neckboard clean off the back while moving it.  Cracked tube, etc.  I've been searching for a few weeks now, can't find much of anything on this unit.  Compared all the photos of the monitor chassis in one of the readme's and couldn't find a match.

Can anyone help tell me what this is, and better yet what I can replace it with?  Arcade monitors aren't listed much locally and most of ebay, etc. is local pickup only.  I can get a 21" PC monitor here.  What's the closest thing possible to a plug and play replacement?  Any and all help would be greatly appreciated!  This is one a guy is http://cgi.ebay.com/ws/eBayISAPI.dll?ViewItem&item=200580615597&ssPageName=STRK:MEWAX:IT (http://cgi.ebay.com/ws/eBayISAPI.dll?ViewItem&item=200580615597&ssPageName=STRK:MEWAX:IT) selling on ebay

Thanks,
Lee

looks good to me :P

i cant tell what it is from your picture, or even how the game is connected to it.

but you should be able to hack up a PC monitor to work with it though.

maybe you can get another tube and swap the yoke.

Before ok, after not so much.

Swapping the yoke is probably out of my comfort zone.  Or hacking a PC monitor, unless it involved minimal hacking.  But hey, thanks for replying.  I couldn't get one reply over at the KLOV forums, those jerks... :-P

Actually a lot of KLOV peeps are here. We just tend to congregate here more often.

As for "hacking" I more or less ment hacking the DB15 end off a computer monitor and wiring it you your gameboard. If you feel adventurous, you could remove the tube and guts from the monitor and place the tube in the same place as the original.

But a small wooden 2x4 shelf can prop the (still cased) monitor inside the cabinet to place the picture in the proper position.

Hang on to the old chassis board from the original monitor though, it WILL come in handy one day... Besides it doesn't eat food, so it's cheap to hang onto it...as opposed to deciding later on that you want it back and have to buy one cause you tossed it.
