I want to use multiple IPAC configurations for certain emulators from within Maximus.
To test out my various configurations I have created 2 batch files.
When I run either one of those (from within windows - maximus NOT running at this point) my IPAC is programmed to the expected keys, everything works great - I can open notepad and see the correct characters, all my emulators work as expected, with the exception of Maximus.
Maximus refuses to recognise any keypress (from the IPAC or a seperate USB keyboard) until I have rebooted the PC, then everything works fine.
Anyone seen anything like this before?
Thanks

Can someone try this for me, it will help me troubleshoot my issue.
1) Close Maximuis
2) Program your IPAC (either from command line or the GUI)
3) Start Maximus without rebooting your pc
does maximus recognise keystrokes from your IPAC?
If you could do this very simple thing for me, it will hopefully help me out.
Many Thanks!

instead of reconfiguring the ipac, why don't you reconfigure the emulators?
-
Some of the games are hardcoded Japanese games with fixed keys.
Others are computer emulators that require various keys in game (function keys for example)
Its a really weird problem, in that after programming everything else works fine - its just Maximus won't recognise any keypress (IPAC or USB keyboard) until I reset the PC. I am talking to Andy Warne about it now via email, but would really appreciate it if someone could carry out the above test for me and confirm it is a Maximus issue.
Thanks

Are you sure that when the ipac is reprogrammed that the keys are different to what is programmed into maximus?
(For example - my maximus is programmed for the mame keys that are defaulted on the ipac but then you are reprogramming the keys on the ipac so they wont be the same as maximus)?
-
Yep, that isnt the issue.
Both configurations have the cursor keys mapped to joystick1 (confirmed with passmark keyboard test and notepad)
The programming does something strange that Maximus doesnt like, everything works perfectly except maximus (until I reboot)
Could you program your ipac then run maximus for me (just program it with its current settings, doesnt have to be different)?
-
Done what you asked and have had no problems with maximus. I must admit, I dont usually program the ipac on the fly as i normally just program it the once and then reconfigure my emulators to what ive already programmed but it worked ok when i tried it. Im using a 2.10 maximus if that helps.

Thanks for doing that, I'm really not sure what's going on here and it has Andy from Ultimarc stumped too..

@jimmy2x2x: Did you ever get this resolved? I have the exact same issue...
-
No, I still have the same issues.
I work around it by choosing a non standard programming for my IPAC to accommodate my software that cant have its keys redefined.
-
Ok. I see that you were in contact with Andy regarding this issue, did he advice about the "/delay" command switch? I actually got that advice from him yesterday, and at the moment I'm adding the command line "/delay:4" when programming the IPAC upon closure of an emulator - and it actually works!! So far at least... but I've been playing around for a couple of hours now, using four different IPAC setups, and no issues so far! Fingers crossed...

That doesn't ring a bell, I will try it out later on
Thanks for the tip ;)
Let me know how you get on, but it sounds like it has solved it for you
