So, i've managed to mount a 1-1/2" trackball and a TurboTwist 2 spinner on the CP of my Sega Blast City. However, due to extreme space limitations i mounted the spinner above the trackball. The trackball is small and hardly gets in the way, but I noticed that both are active in any game that uses either control and if i bump the trackball while playing a spinner game it affects the game i'm playing. This can be a pain. How can i disable one control or the other depending on the game?
thanks

enable multi-mice in mame.ini
then in the default config (use the tab key in mame to get there) set spinner for paddle, etc, and the trackball to, well... trackball
so the spinner will be, say, mouse 1 and the trackball will be mouse 2 (not sure what your system will do with the numbering)
just keep in mind it may be F'ed up if you add another mouse for some reason, but goes right back to working correctly when you unplug it

I'm using mameui64. I can enable multi-mice (through the ini and the ui). But when i'm in mame and tab for the options ect, i dont see where to set spinner for paddle or trackball for trackball. Is that under input general, user interface, P1 controls, Other controls, input this game? I can change paddle input by clearing and then setting new with a turn of the spinner, same for trackball. But both still worked in-game, instead of either or. Thanks for the help Bender Bending Roderiguez!
**Also, i noticed both devices register as mouse 1. Is that the problem? Can i make one mouse 1 and the other mouse 2?

yes, that is problem if mame still see both as mouse 1 then there is no way to disasble the other
What encoader are you using, does it support multi mice
also I would only enable it once, in mame, not in the UI, not sure how that works, but if it's set in mame it should work, when the UI launches it
the setting should be under general
scroll down to trackball X, hit enter, and spin the trackball on the X axis make sure it only registers mouse 1 x axis
Rince, Repete
hope this makes sense I stone cold sober, right now
Good luck! Meatbag!

oh yeah, if you mess up when trying to register an input move to a different input, then back to the one you messed up, hit enter then esc and it should register "none" and try again

I'm using the turbo twist 2 spinner with what ever encoder that comes with and that traxsys trackball with an optipac. However after a restart it appears that each is listed as a separate mouse now, dial is mouse 2 and trackball is mouse 5. I'm good to go, thanks!(http://img.photobucket.com/albums/v230/nip-ring/bender_dance2_animate.gif)
