I'm gonna watch this in Netflix when have some time.

Anyway, I was HOOKED when I stumbled on SPARTACUS (if you have the hots for XENA (Lucy Lawless), this flick is for you).  :)
I give Spartacus 10/10 not because Lucy or nudity, I felt like I want to be in that era be Crixus.  ;D

I give Spartacus 4/5 because of the nudity.

It loses a point because the senseless nudity and violence is occasionally interrupted by character and plot development.

Spartacus is f'ing awesome! In the first season it was random when they would show the crowd and you'd always see a topless women... so far I think they changed that for the new season.

Definitely will check out this series on NF, as all three are there for streaming.  Thanks for posting a heads up.

As for Spartacus, I've been hooked since the first episode.  I was a little skeptical as to whether they could keep it going, considering how the first season ended, and the fact that the lead character is battling cancer in real life and had to drop out.  But happily, they seemed to have pulled it off, losing little of what made the first season so good.  Anyone else notice that Oenomaus is played by the same guy (Peter Mensah) who played the messenger, who got his ass kicked into the pit, in the beginning of 300?

My wife recently got the in-laws hooked on Sparticus.  I only saw bits and pieces as my wife was watching it because it was during my last and by far busiest semester of school.  The pieces I saw were almost invariably awesome, i.e., hot.

My in-laws started in on this new Sparticus mini-season or whatever, the prequel thing, and they seem to sit somewhere between indifference and disapproval.  I get the impression that they don't find it anywhere near as compelling as the first season.

I remember when I started watching the first season I described it to my friends as "excessive".  Excessive violence, excessive sex, and excessive language...so obviously I continued watching :)  Then as the story progressed I realized it was actually a really good show and became hooked because of the story.

Which isn't to say it ever stopped being excessive, thank god.   :)

But of course they still watched every episode, correct?

I don't know, but it honestly wouldn't mean much if they did.  They were already invested in the show.  If they come away from it consistently disappointed it is failing in a major way.  Eventually they will stop watching if it doesn't improve for them (if they haven't already).  If they have continued to watch it, it is a testament to the currency the first season built up by being so good.  That the second season didn't manage to completely exhaust it doesn't mean that it was somehow good on a subconscious level for them.  It just means that they haven't got to the point where the show has gotten so bad that it outweighs their interest in the show's universe and characters.

I just finished the prequel season last night and it was okay, but no where near as good as the first season.

The gluttony is what made the first series. The prequel was explaining how they became so gluttonous.

Last i heard was that the actor playing Spartacus had to bow out because he was getting treatment for non-Hodgkin lymphoma... They were set to start season 2 but because of the debackle, they decided to do the prequel... It wasnt as great, but i loved it more because of the backstory...

And yes...That series made an old childhood fantasy come true... finally saw Xena naked... :laugh2:
