Im running MAMEUI32.141 & Hyperspin...
Ive finally got some games to work but I cant get the controls to work.
I have the Xarcade dual tankstick with trackball and an Aimtrak light gun, also have a logitech controller fo PSX games and N64.
I go into mame settings and set the controls to xarcade I disable dual keyboard input and enable dual mouse input but still nothing.
When Im in a game and hit tab all of the controls say kbd 1 kbd 2 kbd space etc.
What am I missing here?
It sucks that I finally figured out the emulators and hyperspin only to be thwarted by the controls. :banghead:

your x-arcade is a keyboard. Are you expecting it to say x-arcade 1? Or are you saying the x-arcade is not working? To check if the x-arcade is working, open up notepad and start hitting buttons
-
the weirdest thing is it works on some turbo grafx 16 games but not in mame.

Johnny,
My first step would be to figure out what keycodes the tankstick is sending to the computer...
Go here: http://retroblast.arcadecontrols.com/files.html (http://retroblast.arcadecontrols.com/files.html)
Get this: KeyThis! Testing Utility Version 1.1
Install it, run it, and then press each button and each joystick direction, one by one, and write down what you see.
Then you can go into any emulator you want to run, and assign the controls to match your tankstick.

all the buttons seem to be set to the default x arcade mode.
When Im in a game I have to use the arrow keys to move, the joystic does nothing.
And Q to quit not esc.

reinstall mame and set it to the x-arcade again. You might have messed something up when screwing with the ini.

I will try that...
My next question is, how do I set the controls for console games?
NES, SEGA, TG-16, etc? Tab does nothing in console games.
-
got most of the controls working by hitting tab and setting them manually. but I still have to type 'ok' to enter a game and q to exit it... I am lost as to why this happening.
also for snes, I get a message saying something like background image 1 on/off background image 2 on/off when i hit certain buttons.
how do i fix this?

what console emulators are you using?
For snes, i use snes9x, and pretty much i disabled all the system key mappings. It sounds like you've got a button mapped to I believe 1 (likely player 1 start). So remap the button to player one start on the emulator, and remove the system key map for background 1 toggle, or whatever it's called in the emulator.
