Please note "for the rest of your life". This means you had to live the rest of your life with only one pin and continue to be happy with it. No selling, no trading, no modding or anything. Digital pins are not an option in this thread.
Why would you be happy with that single pin for the rest of your life?
-
Why do you think you are going to convert pinball people / collectors over to Digital pins?!
Do you work for some digital pinball mfg company or something?
Trying to sell ones you have made / going to make?
Cause you sure are persistent. Above and beyond the normal.
We have many collectors round here with over 4 pins in their collection. Some many times that number. And they would never trade even one of them for a DP. Ever.

It's obvious that you don't like digital pins, you've made your stance clear, so that's that. I'm asking a serious question and specifically stated no digital pins. I really want to know what "one" pin people couldn't live without if they could have only ONE pin. I'm not trying to convert anyone to digital nor do I have an ulterior motive for this thread other than wanting to know what single pin people would consider keeping if the could only have ONE pin for the rest of their life.

Xiaou2 - please no more anti-digital pinning - lets just move one hey (or get over it)

This is a tough question. You are asking single folks to get married.
As of today, I would take CORVETTE to have and to hold until death do us part.
Why? The game has a good flow and is a well thought out game in my opinion. The only thing I would do to improve it is to add AUTOFIRE so Multi-Ball would be even more frenetic. The Cornering Loop is impossible to master. The side rail mounted Drag Race is cool too. The Future Car isn't all that hard to get to but it is fun getting there.
Isn't the journey usually better than the destination? I think a married man said that.

Yes, it is a tough question and I'd expect it to be difficult for anyone. I just wanted to see something a little more thought provoking. Corvette is a cool suggestion, I played it many times. Unfortunately I haven't seen one around in who knows how long. Hopefully the Texas Pinball Festival, coming up next month, has one available.

The Machine Bride of Pinbot, Twilight Zone, Addams Family, or Theater of Magic are the ones I'd be choosing between. Hard to pick just one :)

Oh come on Saint, at least try to play along. Of course it's hard to pick just one.
The Machine and Twilight Zone are two of my all time favorites as well. I'm afraid that the attract mode on BoP would get annoying after a while, so I'd go with Twilight Zone. I'm a fan of the Twilight Zone show for one. The table has nice artwork both on the playfield and outside of the cabinet. The playfield is nicely laid out and has a fun flow to it. There are a couple nice combo shots and a couple cool looking, gameplay functional toys like the gumball machine. I definitely think TZ is the one pin that I could live with for the rest of my life.
-
Problem is I currently have a BOP, but it's been a while since I've played any of the others :) I vote BOP if I have to choose .... for now :)
-
Medieval Madness... too bad they're like $10K every time I find one. :'(
-
Lord of the Rings. It'll probably take me the rest of my life to reach Valinor.
-
Sigh... I'll have to check out the PHOF next time I am in vegas. I have only played a few pins in my life. I really like SF2, because its fun and I am just a huge fan of SF. For my wife, its simple. Banzai Run
-
Hard to really say since I have still never played the majority of pins that have been made. Of the pins I have owned I might have enjoyed Whodunnit the most even though it's not the most intricate game.
I remember really enjoying Lost In Space. The other one that pops to mind is Cirqus Voltaire. I don't care about the collector factor at all. CV is just a pretty and fun game.
-
I havent played a ton of them out there either, but one that I always enjoy playing is T2. I just have a lot of memories tied in with that one, same as PBJ, so who knows, it could be considered one of the crappiest pins ever, I dont know. My friends dad has an Addams Family pin though, that one is SUPER fun to play. I love T2 though. Cant get enough of the pistol grip ball shooter thing.

So, in a nutshell, I'm your go-to guy for informed opinions. If you disagree with me it's because you're an idiot or you're trying to protect the market value of your 'investment'.

Gilligans Island!
-
GILLIGANS ISLAND? Where did you come up with that one? It must be a Ginger or Maryann thing. Definitely an underrated game that almost never gets talked about. We had one of these games back in 1995 and for the life of me I could never keep the solenoid plunger that indexes the Island rotation tight. It wouldn't even last a week before it came loose.

It is nice to see everyone talking POSITIVE about this game or that even if it is no fun.

Simpsons pinball party
-
You didn't say WHY.
-
Black Knight
I have played the machine for years and I have not grown tired of it yet.
-

Good point.
The Simpsons are awesome & just as much part of my childhood (slapstick comedy) as they are my adulthood (political references & etc).
Plus its a bright, loud & uber deep game that has the best theme ever.

I forgot to say the reason for picking Gilligans Island.
The only reason is that its just "one of those games" you played when you where a kid, and the first one where I actually liked the ingame story. It wasn't too hard either, so players got a feeling they could manage the game well.
A friend of mine is currently looking for this one, we have found 2 copies to date.
I should note that I'm from Norway :P

SW DE and SWT ;D
But seriously this is too hard of a question. I've probably played about 50 different pins - including many A list titles, the problem is its usually in a place you dont really get to hear the sounds too well because of all the ambient noise. To me the sounds of the game add alot. I'm not complaining but its just hard to get a true feel for some of those pins.
That being said, if I HAD to pick one title......I'd go with.......whatever PBJ says since his opinion is the only one that matters.
How about Johnny Mnemonic or STTNG?
-
Mine would have to be Medieval Madness. MM is a fairly deep game, but easy enough for casual playing. The thing I hate about most games is bashing the black rubber posts non-stop. No
Fear Fun comes to mind. ::)
As much as I love my Star Trek:TNG, the constant post bashing and Delta Quadrant ramp that's impossible to hit without enough momentum gets annoying.
-
Simpsons Pinball Party. The artwork, the sound, its the total package. Always walk away chuckling after playing a few rounds of it.
WELCOME TO MOE'S!
-
I have only 1 pin, so this is easy... Theatre of Magic. I've owned it for many years, bought a full set of real plastics, trunks, etc for it while they were still readily available, and it is in awesome shape, so... yeah, Theatre of Magic for me!

Red and Ted Roadshow. I don't know why but I can sink endless quarters in it and never want to leave the swap shop where it's at.

I hereby deem this thread worthy to be my "Return to BYOAC" thread. I have looked upon it and it is good.
Theater of Magic. Brilliant flow and just all kinds of fun and varied stuff to do all over the playfield. I'd occasionally shed a tear for my long lost Cirqus Voltaire and ST:TNG. (Although I cant say I'd miss that insufferable "Had you propelled the ball along the proper trajectory you would have been rewarded" grr..)
-
Easy: Cyclone. 'Ride the ferris wheel!'
-
Lord of the Rings. It'll probably take me the rest of my life to reach Valinor.
agreed! I own this one and expect to keep it for a long time
I really like TOTAN but I think the gameplay would get old over time so it's not worth the premium $ to me
-
I have had Gotlieb Strike n Spares, HS2, Shadow, W?D, LOTR, and now a Theater of Magic
I have put some serious time on Spiderman, Ironman, and TAF
I just picked up the TOM so it may be early to make the call but I would say LOTR
It is epic and pulls you into the story line, I haven't played another game where the multiballs and modes are so clearly defined and varied, each mode tells part of the story, Destroy the Ring is a absolute blast and tension builds nicely with awesome music and speech, plus the voice calls are great.
It helps a ton when your a J. R. R. Tolkien fan
