Title: What kind monitor to get for mame arcade? with xbox 360 or ps3?
Post by: Rice Cube on February 15, 2011, 04:31:07 am
Hey everyone, new to the mame arcade game, im building my cabinet right now and i want to mount my tv soon. i plan on hopefully having my pc and ps3 or xbox 360 connected to my control panel, thats another topic im trying to figure out. but as far as the monitor, im thinking like a 26 inch lcd that would be the easiest and it wouldnt get too hot like a crt. my pc has a dvi connection. i was thinking of getting an lcd, that would be the easiest to work with, but im wondering if i should try and find a flat tube with like 2 component connections which would be cheaper. leaning towards the lcd though. any advice or questions. please PM me or reply. thanks everyone.

the only satisfying solution i can think of for retrogaming + nextgen console is using a highend studio crt like the nec xm s which can display 15-50 or 8x khz. playing mame retro on a vga crt screen with scanlines or slg300 + x360 in vga mode may be a compromise . most 360 games are doin fine in vga mode. if ure up for a flatscreen take a 4:3 2o inch or 32 + x inch . whats the use of a 24 inch ?
its a combination of the worse , small and unretro.

better build 3 cabinets  .. one for 15 k games , one for the vga stuff and one with a fullhd screen.

I think a 29" 31khz monitor would probably be your best bet.  It'll look nice in the cabinet and you'll still have access to 480p.
