Title: Bad Dudes Marquee Measurement
Post by: stu33 on February 12, 2011, 08:41:26 am
Hello everyone.  This is my first post, and my first Mame cabinet conversion.  I have an old Bad Dudes cabinet (I think, it doesn't have ANY artwork, except a busted bad dudes marquee).  It was working, kind of.  The colors in the monitor were WAAAY off, and the monitor itself was unstable.  I was able to get the monitor to stop fluctuating, but the colors were never right, although playable.  I'm not an electrician by any means, so I'm putting a MAME PC in here.  I've wanted to build a new cabinet for quite a while, and stumbled upon this one.

I'm at the 'finishing touches' portion of the conversion, and need a new marquee.  Does anyone know the measurement of the Bad Dudes curved marquee, when laid flat?  I'm going to make a new one, and was hoping someone might know this measurement.  It's the Bad Dudes marquee that's curved.

Thanks for looking.

lay a piece of poster board in there so it curves the same way.  Mark it off.  Straighten it out and measure.

I think my measurements are right: 26" x 7.5"
I think the idea of using the construction paper to make a template is a good idea though.
because you can't easily flatten out the marquee from these

I'll do the construction paper template and let you know if I come out with the same measurements.  Thank you both for the advice.

While I've got a topic near the top...on this cabinet I've dropped in a PC CRT monitor (de-cased) that was almost a perfect match in size for the existing mounting hole.  The only thing that doesn't line up perfectly is the cardboard bezel that was there.  How nasty would it look to just make one out of construction paper that I could electrical tape to the edges of the monitor?  I would tape the edge and then fold it over top of the tape so the tape wouldn't show.
