Title: - Project Name - Bartop Touchscreen Build
Post by: Firebat138 on February 10, 2011, 01:19:02 pm
Here is a little sketch of the bartop I am gonna start.  You will see on one side I have a little rectangle.  That will be a slot for a wireless keyboard.  I am thinking that it will reside in there like one of those slots on your laptop and when u push it in, it will pop out.  What would I purchase for the SPRING part?

Love the shape of this thing. Not sure on what you would use for a spring mechanism.

If your door is on slides or a hinge the proper touch latch can make it spring open if pushed in

that looks like it may work.  Thanx guys...

I like the shape as well...  It may change once I figure out screen I am using and components...  I have a couple of old laptops...  Would those work?  Is there an issue with another screen being attatched, etc...

Some laptops will allow to let any external monitor "take over" (I think it's called "give priority to VGA device" or something like that) with a simple BIOS setting. So have a look at the BIOS.

I like the shape too, but if you're using a flat screen you might consider trimming the backside to take up less space.  Can't wait to see more.

Since your external monitor will be a touch screen make sure the driver supports using more than one display.
