Well I finally got my hands on a camera, (not a digital one). Anyhow, here are some pictures I took. I am by no means a photographer, and I don't think these pictures turned out too well, (The white specks are from the scanner -- it needs to be cleaned). Several of the pics I took did not turn out at all. I needed more light - much more light. However, I am very pleased with the results of my arcade. I plan on whipping up a website later with more detailed information.

Here is the art I got printed:
The marquee was printed by emdkay.

The CPO was printed at Kinko's. The photos really do not do it justice.

I like it. Very clean. You didn't want to sink your trackball, though? You shouldn't hide even a lil bit of your pretty artwork under that plate.
Did you built or renovate???
P.S. Where did you get that logo for the evolution of man into playing arcade games on your CP?
P.P.S. When I finally get my machine up and running, I PROMISE it will not be as clean as this one. :)
-
oooh, looks very nice... pretty neat for such a large cp.
just wondering, how do you get multiple pix in one message? :P
-
Are the 3p and 4p joysticks mounted in relation to the player or the screen?

Well oddly enough the artwork was designed around the mounting plate. I don't own a router, (I went to a friends to do the t-molding slot) so recessing it would have been a pain.

I built. It is based on the Lusid Design.

I honestly don't remember. If you'd like it, I could post it.

It is just like inserting a link, except press the image button to the left of the mail button, above the smilies.
-
Yeah if you could post it that would be cool. If it's a decent enough resolution I might make a shirt out of it. Otherwise, it might make a good badge for my machine.
-
Now there's an example of a decent 4 player panel!
Only improvement I could make would be similar coloured buttons for each player.
Well done it's impressive.

Very nice...all the hard work paid off.the 4 player panel looks great ! :)

Thats where I saw it, on a shirt. I forgot the link though.

Yeah I thought about doing that, but I did the "rainbow" so when people ask, "how do you do that move?" I can tell them Red blue green. It is just easier for instructions.
I would also recommend only 4 buttons for player 3 +4 if you are only going to play MAME on your cab. I have not yet found a use for button 5 +6 :(. I promise I will eventually.

Here is the evolution mame graphic that I used:

I don't know exactly what you mean by that. But there is just enough room for 4 players, (no elbow bumping ect..) and I think that was the best angle for 3 + 4 to have a decent view of the screen. The cp was the last thing I made, so I played around with many angles and layouts in relation to the cab.
-
Well the 3p and 4p are at angle to the screen. To move up on the screen does the user move the joystick directly away from them or directly towards the screen. In others words, are the controls relative or absolute? I think absolute controls would work best for arcade games, but relative controls would work better for most console games (except maybe sports games).

To move up, 3p and 4p move the joy directly away from them, so relative I think :D

I just noticed something in one of the pics..
what's with the mod'ed remote control?? What do you use it for???

It turns on the TV. I connected a pushbutton to the power button on the remote and moved the ir emitter in front of the TV. Notice 2 pushbuttons in the same picture w/ the remote. The red button turns on everything but the TV and the black one turns on the TV.

I was about to ask WHY IN THE WORLD...? ? ?
Then I realized this is an easy hack without destroying (or possibly messing up) your TV. Nice... :)

I notice a lot of people apologize for their photography. Don't sweat it - it's not for the cover of Rolling Stone. As long as you can tell more or less what you've got - it's all good to me.
But I like it -- good four player setup, nice artwork, an overall masterpiece. But thanks for taking a picture of the classic "Winners Don't Do Drugs" screen. I'm now clean and sober because of it. :)
