Title: Arcade VGA, old arcade monitors and dmame, talk amoungst yourselfs...
Post by: ntjedi on August 21, 2003, 01:26:09 pm
 ???
This may be a dumb quesion but here it goes....

I am running dmame with advmenu for the front end in 98 dos.  I have a old 25" Sega arcade monitor and the ArcadeVGA card.  The monitor is fairly sesitive on the vertical frequency so I ran the avres utility to create the ini files for each game.  After I did this most of the games do work (although now they have a picture of their monitor bezel around them) but, for example, Ms Pacman is still rolling.  I guess it was my understanding that the avres utility was supposed to set the resolutions so they will all work on a 60Hz monitor.

I think I am having a major brain fart and any help would be greatly appreciated! :P

FYI, I am running a search on the boards but I also thought I would ask the question.

Just dont want to give the wrong impression.

Take out the bezel artwork in mame.ini  Your forcing it to do 800x600 which is interlaced and your monitor cannot handle it.

I'll fix the mame.ini tonight.  Other than that I am also going to try something that Pyronious suggested and use a custome ArcadeVGA.txt file for the avres program.

I'll let y'all know how it works out for me.  I am slowly getting the MameTiki complete.  Now if I can just stop playing games long enough for me to mount my controllers!
